Self-regulating sun protection glazing SOLARDIM®-ECO
Transparent casting resins are applied in multifarious types of glazing, such as windows, facade elements as well as car and roof glazing. A
thermotropic casting resin enables to improve the sun protecting properties of such glazing.
Casting resins with thermotropic properties are obtained by the addition of specific pigments. Since casting resins usually consist of chemically very reactive components, the requirements on the chemical stability of the pigments are extremely high. Above a certain temperature thermotropic casting resins transform into a state which reflects solar radiation, whereby the switching temperature and the reflectance can be adjusted. Prototypes of laminated glazing based on these casting resins are maintenance free and possess a long-term stability.
