Thermochromic thermosetting plastics

Thermosetting plastics are crosslinked polymers. In contrast to thermoplastics they can be neither melted nor molded. Therefore, thermosetting plastics are molded already during their production. In order to make them thermochromic, the thermochromic pigment must be added already during the production of the thermosetting plastics. This causes high requirements on the chemical stability of the used thermochromic pigments, because the components for the production of thermosetting plastics are generally highly reactive compounds. Thermochromic pigments, especially developed for this application, enable a one or multilevel color switching in the range between 0°C and 100°C.
